Last-minute taxes and fun and games drive search in April

TurboTax, Lego and Nintendo Wii led product searches last month, according to Nielsen Online. Wal-Mart, The Home Depot and Target led retailer searches.

 

With the April 15 tax deadline looming, consumers last month were searching for last-minute help from TurboTax. The software program received 823,000 searches during the month, according to data provided to Internet Retailer from Nielsen Online’s MegaView Search Custom Data. The MegaView Search data is based on tallies from 58 search engines. The tax program was followed by Lego toys with 534,000 searches and the Nintendo Wii video game console with 502,000.

Consumers looking for retailers in April flocked to Wal-Mart, which received nearly 3.8 million searches, according to Nielsen Online. The Home Depot received almost 3.1 million searches and Target more than 2.7 million.
