Site redesign lifts conversion rate 40% at LetsTalk.com

Cell phone, wireless and service plan online retailer LetsTalk has updated its site, improving search by making it easier to compare products and quickly view product detail. The changes have led to a 40% increase in conversions.

Cell phone, wireless and service plan online retailer LetsTalk has updated its site, improving search by making it easier to compare products and incorporating Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) to give visitors instant views of product detail. LetsTalk says the incorporation of Ajax has boosted orders stemming from site search by 14%. Overall, the new site has spurred a 40% increase in conversions.

The updated site makes it easier for shoppers to find cell phones that meet their criteria. A new, “Find the Perfect Cell Phone” section at the top of the home page lets customers mix and match plans, carriers and features to find a phone that meets their needs.

LetsTalk also added Ajax technology to its site that allows customers to mouse over images returned in a search to bring up a box with product name and details. The Best Sellers portion of the site also incorporates Ajax. When users hover over a best seller text listing, they see a box to the right that shows an image, price and user ratings.

The relaunch also offers users more navigation options. A new footer on the bottom of each page acts as a mini-site map with links to such categories as carriers, manufacturers and plans.
