More Than 200 Manufacturers are Now Offering More Purchasing Choices to Shoppers

San Luis Obispo, CA, April 2, 2008 – With increasing consumer demand for outdoor and sporting goods this spring, Shopatron is providing in-store pickup of online orders to all of its manufacturer and retail clients in the outdoor sporting goods industry.

Shopatron, a provider of eCommerce solutions for consumer goods manufacturers, directs orders from manufacturers’ Web sites to retailers located near the consumer. Consumers have the option of picking up orders in-store or having their items shipped. In both instances, the retail partners handle fulfillment, allowing retailers to generate in-store revenues and enabling manufacturers to sell directly from their Web sites.

“Shopatron’s in-store pickup solution helps improve our overall customer service by allowing a customer to pick up his product shortly after ordering it, often within a few hours,” said Steve Doviak, Internet manager for Thule Car Racks. “As spring approaches, our customers want to get outside and get active. On our Web site, a shopper can find the product he needs and choose how he wants to receive it. Shopatron will then manage the order with a local retailer to make sure the customer gets the item as fast as possible.”

Over the holiday season, Shopatron found that more than half of all shoppers chose to try Shopatron in-store pickup if presented with the option while placing their order online. Based on the convenience of in-store pickup and costs saved on shipping, more than 95 percent of consumers rated the shopping experience as ‘good’ or ‘excellent.’

“We’re happy to build our relationships with manufacturers while providing better service to shoppers,” said Tom Mollerus, owner and director of finance for Rack N Road, a specialty sports rack and rack accessory retailer with stores in California, Utah and Washington. “Using Shopatron with manufacturers such as Thule, we receive detailed information about what local customers need and how they prefer to shop. The solution shows us which Thule items are most popular and how shoppers want to get them. With an in-store pickup option, more local customers enter our stores, increasing the likelihood that they’ll buy additional products or have Rack N Road staff install the product.”

“Large retailers such as Wal-Mart and Circuit City have proven that consumers are increasingly looking to pick up their orders in-store,” said Ed Stevens, founder and CEO of Shopatron. “When shoppers make purchasing decisions, the manufacturers that will win their business are those that can fulfill orders quickly. With our in-store pickup solution there are no shipping fees or shelves to scour, streamlining and improving the online shopping experience overall.”
