WebTrends hires Google exec as CEO

Daniel E. Stickel had been responsible for syndication products at Google. He replaces Bruce Coleman, who was hired as interim CEO last October.

Analytics vendor WebTrends Inc. has hired Daniel E. Stickel as its new CEO. Stickel comes from Google Inc. where had been responsible for syndication products.

Prior to Google, Stickel was employed at Macrovision Software Technologies Group and before that served as an executive vice president at search engine Alta Vista.

“We’re very pleased to have Dan Stickel as the CEO of WebTrends,” says Neil Garfinkel, a partner at Francisco Partners, a private equity firm with a significant investment in WebTrends. “We believe that his leadership abilities and broad experience, together with the extensive industry knowledge of WebTrends’ existing executive team, will drive WebTrends in the next phase of growth.”

“The web analytics market is forecast for nearly 20% growth in 2008, and the growth in enterprise marketing software is even greater,” Stickel says. “My immediate focus will be to reach out to key customers, partners, prospects and employees in order to gain an understanding of where we are hitting the mark and where we need to do better.”

Stickel succeeds Bruce Coleman who was hired as interim CEO in October.
