Overstock.com Inc. has dropped its $1 charge for shipping purchases to members of its Club O discount program. Shipping will be free in the continental U.S., except on orders of books, movies, music and games.

"Allowing Club O members to have free shipping is a way for us to reward these loyal customers for their business,” says Patrick Byrne, Overstock.com Chairman and CEO. “Considering the frequency with which Club O members make purchases, this elimination of shipping fees is going to add up to a lot of savings.”

In return for a $29.95 annual fee, Club O members receive a 5% discount on their orders and have access to special promotions and dedicated customer service agents.

Overstock.com is No. 25 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. The retailer of off-price merchandise did not disclose how frequently Club O members purchase on the site.
