Circuit City closes the gap with Best Buy among consumer electronics sites

Among computer & consumer electronic retail sites, CircuitCity.com significantly closed the gap between itself and No. 1 BestBuy.com as measured by unique visitors in October, Nielsen Online reports.

Among computer & consumer electronic retail web sites, CircuitCity.com significantly closed the gap between itself and No. 1 BestBuy.com as measured by unique visitors in October from October 2006, Nielsen Online reports. CircuitCity.com’s unique visitors grew 26% to 11.54 million from 9.18 million a year ago, while BestBuy.com’s number of visitors was flat, Nielsen Online reports.

The top 10 computer & consumer electronic retail web sites in October with unique visitors in millions this October and last October and percent growth were:

  • Circuit City, 11.54, 9.18, 26%
  • eBay Electronics, 9.63, 9.24, 4%
  • eBay Computers, 4.44, 5.39, -18%

The category hosted 47.89 million unique visitors in October. (Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times that shopper visited.)

In terms of time that the average visitor spent on each site in October, CDW led with 34 minutes, 6 seconds. The average for the category in October was 22 minutes, 4 seconds. The Top 10 in terms of average time that a shopper spent on the site (minutes:seconds), along with unique visitors in millions, according to Nielsen Online, were:
