Web analytics firm Compete Inc. has hired Gregg Poulin as general manager of Compete.com. Poulin comes from Stride Rite Corp. where has was director of e-commerce and focused on developing Keds.com.

Compete.com, launched a year ago, offers marketers two paid online services. Site Analytics provides data on the visitors to web sites and Search Analytics, launched two months ago, provides information on the keywords that drive searchers to web sites. “My role is to develop more products like that,” Poulin says. He will also head up the development of the Search Analytics product.

“Gregg is joining Compete as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Compete.com,” says Stephen DiMarco, chief marketing officer of Compete, which was founded in 2000 and is based in Boston. “The growth of this still-evolving marketing industry resource has surpassed our original expectations. Gregg has the e-commerce experience and creative energy to ensure Compete.com continues delivering the experience and value that has quickly set Compete apart from others in our industry.”

Compete collects data from a panel of 2 million Internet users.

Before Stride Rite, Poulin directed e-commerce strategy at Keurig Inc., a manufacturer of coffee machines.
