Upstart Glam Media hangs onto its lead in apparel & beauty sites

Glam Media, an e-commerce and media site, continues to dominate online apparel & beauty sites with 12 million unique visitors in August, reports Nielsen/NetRatings.

Glam Media, an e-commerce and media site, continues to dominate online apparel & beauty sites, only a few months after its launch, with 12 million unique visitors in August, 14% more than the former perennial leader eBay Clothing, Shoes & Accessories, reports Nielsen/NetRatings. Glam Media’s hold on visitors, though, was not as strong as other sites’. Glam’s customers stayed for an average of 6 minutes 7 seconds in August, lowest among the top 10.

The Top 10 apparel & beauty sites in August, ranked by unique visitors in millions this August and last, with year-over-year growth and average length of visit in minutes and seconds across the month, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, were:

  • eBay Clothing Shoes & Accessories, 10.53, 11.97, -12%, 0:14:22
  • eBay Jewelry and Watches, 4.42, 5.50, -20%, 0:12:44

  • eBay Health & Beauty, 3.74, 4.05, -8%, 0:07:17
  • Lands’ End, 3.58, 2.67, 34%, 0:14:09
  • L.L. Bean, 3.55, 2.75, 29%, 0:11:31
  • Zappos.com, 3.42, 3.07, 11%, 0:09:43
  • Avon, 3.38, 3.34, 1%, 0:40:36
  • Victoria`s Secret, 3.17, 3.59, -12%, 0:12:00
(Unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times that shopper visited.)

By time per person, the category as a whole held visitors for 28 minutes, 5 seconds in August. The top 10, with time per visitor in the month and traffic in millions, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, were:
