New York, NY – July 25, 2007 – Stacy Janiak, a 15-year industry veteran and a partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP has been named the national leader of Deloitte’s Retail group, which provides audit, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to retail, wholesale and distribution companies.

In her new role as vice chairman and U.S. retail leader, Janiak will spearhead initiatives to enhance Deloitte’s position in the marketplace, including Deloitte’s Annual Holiday Survey. In addition, she will continue to be actively involved in major client assignments within the industry, providing audit, internal control, merger and acquisition due diligence and other specialized services to Fortune 500 companies in the retail and distribution sectors.

“In today’s competitive environment, retailers have a considerable opportunity to improve sales and earnings by focusing on converting shoppers into buyers,” Janiak said. “Ensuring that store staffing matches shopper traffic, improving selling behaviors, streamlining store navigation and better managing inventory are some of the levers that retailers can use to consistently deliver positive customer experiences. Retailers who follow this model are positioned to create strong retail brands and loyal customers.”

Janiak is active in professional and community initiatives, including serving as the regional chairperson for the Network of Executive Women (NEW) in the Twin Cities. Janiak received her B.S. in Commerce from DePaul University and she is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Minnesota and Illinois CPA Societies.

“The retail industry faces multiple challenges and Stacy brings exceptional problem-solving capabilities to our clients,” said Edward Carey, vice chairman and national managing partner, U.S. Industries, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP. “She understands the importance of delivering industry insight and perspective to clients and has the leadership skills to take Deloitte’s Retail group to the next level.”

As used in this press release, the term “Deloitte” includes Deloitte & Touche LLP, Deloitte Consulting LLP, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, and Deloitte Tax LLP.
