More of the same news from Sharper Image—sales down

Internet sales at Sharper Image Corp. fell 31% in June from June 2006 to $3.7 million from $5.4 million, the company reported today. Total sales fell 21% to $28.9 million from $36.4 million a year earlier. Store sales were down 9% to $21.4 million from $23.4 million, with comparable store sales down 7%. Catalog sales/direct marketing sales, including wholesale, were down 50% to $3.8 million from $7.6 million.

For the first five months of the fiscal year, Internet sales at Sharper Image, No. 122 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, were down 39% to $16.9 million from $27.8 million a year earlier. Total sales were down 32% to $118.7 million from $174.5 million in the previous year. Store sales were down 16% to $83.3 million from $99.6 million, while comparable store sales decreased 17 percent. Catalog sales/direct marketing sales, including wholesale, for the five months were down 61% to $18.5 million from $47.1 million.
