Apple continues as clear leader in visitors to computer manufacturers’ site

Apple continues to lead computer hardware manufacturers in unique visitors to its web sites, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Apple hosted 44 million unique visitors to its sites in April, up 31% from a year ago.

Apple hosted 44 million unique visitors to its web sites in April, up 31% from 33.5 million a year ago. Hewlett Packard also experienced strong growth, up 34% to 17.3 million unique visitors from 12.9 million a year ago. Dell continued its slippage, with visitors down 8%.

The top 10 computer hardware manufacturer web sites by unique visitors in April (in millions), with April a year ago and year-over-year growth were:

  • Apple, 44.03, 33.54, 31%
  • Hewlett Packard, 17.30, 12.94, 34%
  • Dell, 15.43, 16.74, -8%
  • Sun Microsystems, 3.59, 3.42, 5%
  • IBM, 2.32, 2.54, -8%
  • Nintendo, 2.03, 0.77, 163%
  • XBOX, 1.75, 1.03, 69%
  • Gateway, 1.72, 1.71, 1%
  • Linksys, 1.55, 1.16, 34%
  • Palm, 1.45, 1.27, 14%
(Calculations of unique visitors count only once each shopper who came to a site, no matter how many times that shopper visited.)

By time spent per person on the site in April (hours:minutes:seconds), and number of visitors (in millions) the top 10 were:
