Assurz.com, a company that provides satisfaction guarantees to online shoppers, has hired Gregg Gumbinger as vice president of business development. Gumbinger will be responsible for establishing relationships with online merchants, credit card acquirers and indepenednet sales organizations who recruit merchants into the credit card system.

Gumbinger joins Assurz from online payment processor Authorize.Net, where he was vice president of business development for the channel sales group. He previously worked for First Data Merchant Services as director of strategic marketing in the e-commerce division. He has also held marketing and business development positions at Visa USA, MCI, ClearCommerce, HomeAccount and Pay By Touch.

“Assurz is pioneering a new concept in the emerging confidence management and returns management field, and we need a proven leader with the expertise and industry connections to help shape and execute our business development strategy,” says Steve Hoffman, CEO. “Gregg has an ideal background and skill set, including deep roots in the acquirer channel that will play a vital role in promoting the Assurz service to the online merchant community.”

“The Assurz service is a first-of-its-kind solution that increases merchant sales revenues by addressing online purchasing barriers that frequently cause consumers to abandon shopping carts and that is going to have a strong appeal to merchants and acquirers,” Gumbinger says. “This gives me the opportunity to build comprehensive business support for the concept and make shopping with the Assurz guarantee as ubiquitous in online commerce as using credit cards online.”

The Assurz guarantee services enables shoppers to evaluate their purchases for 90 days and, if dissatisfied, receive full reimbursement of their purchase as well as prepaid return shipping directly from Assurz.
