NBTY’s Q1 online sales top $18 million

NBTY reported 2007 fiscal first quarter web sales of $18.7 million, which account for 36% of total direct response/e-commerce sales. Overall the web accounted for 4% of total sales in Q1 vs. 2% for the same quarter in the prior year.

NBTY Inc. reported 2007 fiscal first quarter web sales of $18.7 million, accounting for 36% of the company’s total direct response and e-commerce sales. Puritan.com is the flagship web site for the marketer and distributor of nutritional supplements.

NBTY is No. 137 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

Net direct response/e-commerce sales of NBTY’s Puritan’s Pride product line for the quarter, ended December 31, 2006, increased to $52 million. That’s up 56% from $33 million for the comparable period in fiscal 2006.

The Internet will drive future growth and Puritan`s Pride is incorporating new, but unnamed technologies to expand the business, company executives say.

NBTY’s total first quarter net sales were $506 million compared to $455 million for the fiscal first quarter ended December 31, 2005, an increase of $51 million or 11%. Overall the web accounted for 4% of total sales in Q1 vs. 2% for the same quarter in the prior year.
