Apparel retailers gave web shoppers the most consistent high broadband performance in December. Gomez Inc. notes that customers with a high broadband connection could visit a clothing retailer’s site in about 5.53 seconds.

Apparel retailers gave web shoppers the most consistent high broadband performance in December.

Gomez Inc. notes that customers with a high broadband connection could visit an apparel retailer’s site in about 5.53 seconds, compared to specialty retailers (6.19 seconds), mass merchants (6.55 seconds) and computers and electronic retailers (6.88 seconds).

When their site is accessed by a low broadband connection, apparel retailers also provided the fastest average access at 14.56 seconds, Gomez says. The next fastest web retailing category was specialty (15.53 seconds), followed by computers and electronics (17.14 seconds) and mass merchants (17.19 seconds).
