Audible names a new CFO

Audible.com Inc., online retailer and supplier of digital books and other interactive media, has named William H. Mitchell chief financial officer. He replaces Andrew P. Kaplan who has left the company.

Mitchell was most recently the CFO of Viewpoint Corp. In his new position with Audible, he will work with the company’s senior management on daily financial and accounting issues and coordinate Audible`s audit efforts with KPMG, its outside accounting firm.

Mitchell began his finance career at Price Waterhouse and earlier in his career was employed at Maxworldwide, where he oversaw the three-year restatement of a prior period`s financial statements and the sale of the company. He also has served as senior vice president of finance at TKR Cable, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Tele-Communications Inc.`s Atlantic Division, and executive vice president and CFO of Bigfoot Interactive.
