Junction Solutions, which provides retailers with multi-channel web-based enterprise software applications, has agreed to acquire ISS Retail, a provider of browser-based point-of-sale applications, Junction Solutions reported today. The deal will enable Junction Solutions to integrate POS technology with other applications including e-commerce, fulfillment, merchandising, retail analytics, data warehousing and supply chain management. All of Junction Solutions’ applications, like ISS Retail’s POS technology, are built on Microsoft Corp.’s web-based .Net technology.
“This addition to Junction Solutions’ retail product suite demonstrates our intense drive to provide our customers with the most technologically advanced, innovative solutions for their retail business needs,” says Brian Carpizo, president and CEO of Junction Solutions.
ISS Retail’s POS application, which is being re-branded from TouchPoint POS to JunctionISS, is a browser-based POS and back office suite of applications designed to provide retailers with a flexible, scaleable and standards-based solution developed with Microsoft .NET technologies, Junction Solutions says. Until now, Junction Solutions has offered a more basic POS application that was not built on .Net technology and not designed for enterprise integration, a spokeswoman says.
“The synergies created by integrating point-of-sale, e-commerce and direct marketing retail systems create a compelling new option for retailers who are looking for a true multi-channel retail enterprise system based on a single technology platform that leverages the billions in research-and-development investment from Microsoft,” says ISS Retail president Ken Jenkins, who will remain with the new company as head of a new POS division.
Retailer clients of Junction Solutions include H.E. Butt Grocery Co., Musician’s Friend Inc. and Mrs. Fields Gifts Inc.
