Apple leads in October visits to computer hardware sites

Apple Computer recorded the most visits to computer hardware e-commerce sites in October, with 35.8 million, up 30% from October 2005, Nielsen/NetRatings Inc. reports. Hewlett Packard ranked second with 15.2 million.

Apple Computer Inc. recorded the most visits to computer hardware e-commerce sites in October, with 35.8 million, up 30% from 27.5 million in October 2005, Nielsen/NetRatings Inc. reports.

Hewlett Packard Co., ranked second with 15.2 million , up 5% from 14.5 million a year earlier, followed by Dell Inc., 14.2 million, down 15% from 16.7 million; Sun Microsystems Inc., 2.7 million, up 4% from 2.6 million; IBM Corp., 2.5 million, down 22% from 3.2 million; Gateway Inc., 1.7 million, down 15% from 2 million; Nintendo Co. Ltd., 1.4 million up 75% from 800,000; Seiko Epson Corp., 1.4 million, down 18% from 1.7 million; Linksys, 1.4 million, up 17% from 1.2 million; and Logitech, 1.3 million, up 30% from 1 million.

Ranked by time per visit, Apple led with 1 hour, 10 minutes, 36 seconds; followed by Dell, 21 minutes, 19 seconds; Palm Inc., 14 minutes, 47 seconds; IBM, 13 minutes, 56 seconds; Nintendo, 11 minutes, 59 seconds; Xbox, 11 minutes, 21 seconds; Gateway, 11 minutes, 1 second; Hewlett Packard, 10 minutes, 38 seconds; Creative Technology Ltd., 9 minutes, 50 seconds; and Epson, 8 minutes, 44 seconds.

Also in October, the books-movies-music category lead all retail goods and services segments in the number of online advertising impressions, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report.
