Shoes.com posts another solid quarter

Brown Shoe Co. grew its e-commerce sales 82% for the recently concluded third quarter and 79.6% for the first nine months of the year.

Brown, which operates Shoes.com and is No. 192 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, reported e-commerce sales of $15.8 million in the third quarter, up from sales of $8.7 million for the same quarter in 2005.

For January through September, e-commerce sales were $39.7 million, compared with web sales of $22.1 million from the same period in 2005.

In the third quarter, the web represented 2.3% of total sales of $676.8 million. For January through September revenue from Shoes.com also accounted for 2.2% of total sales of $1.83 billion.

"We delivered an all-time record quarter driven by an exceptional performance by our Famous Footwear chain in the period and solid contributions from our wholesale and specialty retail segments,” says Brown Shoe chairman and CEO Ron Fromm.
