Michael L. Jones, senior vice president, chief information officer of Circuit City Stores, has resigned to pursue other interests, the company has reported.
Michael L. Jones, senior vice president, chief information officer of Circuit City Stores, has resigned to pursue other interests, the company reports. He will remain until mid-November to assist with the transition of his duties to William E. McCorey Jr., who has been promoted to senior vice president and will replace Jones as chief information officer.
McCorey worked at Circuit City in a variety of information technology management roles from 1991 to 2005. He left to become chief information officer at 2nd Swing Inc. for a brief period, then rejoined Circuit City in April 2005. Since that time, he has served as vice president, business applications, with responsibility for implementing large scale retail applications, including the company`s new point of sale system and the merchandising systems transformation.
"Mike was an instrumental part of the turnaround efforts at Circuit City over the last three years," said Philip J. Schoonover, chairman, president and CEO.
