E-commerce product sales at Communicate.com Inc. rose 88% year-over-year to $1.5 million for the second quarter ended June 30, up from $800,000, it said yesterday. The company owns four retail sites--Perfume.com, Cologne.com, Karate.com and Body.com-in addition to advertising and travel sites. Of the $1.5 million in e-commerce sales, all but $160,000 was on Perfume.com, a spokesman says.

Total Q2 sales rose 51.4% year-over-year, to $1.59 million from $1.05 million, as net income fell 29.3% to $81,738 from $115,670, the company says. Communicate.com is No. 492 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

For the first half, e-commerce product sales rose 94.5% to $2.8 million from $1.44 million, as net income dropped to $42,621 from $249,142.

Most of the drop in net income was due to a decline in advertising revenue from the company`s non-retail sites, the spokesman says.
