Q2 revenue at BabyUniverse rises 61.3% as net loss widens

Net sales at online retailer BabyUniverse Inc. increased 61.3% year-over-year to $8.5 million for the second quarter ended June 30, as the retailer`s Q2 net loss widened to $1.2 million from $322,000, it said today.

Net sales at online retailer BabyUniverse Inc. increase 61.3% year-over-year to $8.5 million for the second quarter ended June 30, as its Q2 net loss widened to $1.2 million from $322,000, it said today.

The Q2 net loss included $390,000 in non-recurring restructuring expenses as the company consolidated personnel and activities at its new headquarters in Jupiter, FL, BabyUniverse says. It adds that Q2 net income was reduced by as much approximately $450,000 due to the non-recurring items.

For the first half of the year, net sales grew 83.3% to $18 million from $9.8 million a year ago, as net loss widened to $1.4 million from $419,000, the company says. BabyUniverse is No. 235 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.
