It’s added the first of a new series of solutions and best practices for search engine optimization to its offering. Guided search and navigation technology provider Endeca Technologies is looking beyond site search to web search with the addition of what will be a series of solutions and best practices for search engine optimization to its offering. The extended offering seeks to leverage the investment of marketers already on the Endeca platform by optimizing interactions between the Endeca Information Access Platform and search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

According to Endeca, the new offering will give companies running applications on the Endeca IAP capacities to complement search marketing initiatives and also help web search engines to accurately rank products and content. The goal is to help businesses on the platform increase page views, customer acquisition and revenue from visitors who arrive at the site while reducing dependence on PPC advertising programs that bring them there, according to Endeca.

Among the first of the search engine optimization solutions offered is the Endeca Sitemap Generator, which is designed to help search engines more easily find and index key pages on Endeca users’ sites. The generator dynamically creates a sitemap containing every relevant navigation page configured within the Endeca IAP that drives guided navigation on Endeca users’ sites. The generator feeds data formatted for Google’s Sitemap to Google, supports other out of the box output formats, and can be configured for other data feeds, Endeca says.

Among the first of the search engine optimization best practices, offered to Endeca users through the company’s Customer Solutions organization, are new capacities to customize and dynamically generate meta tags. They will allow non-technical users to build context-sensitive presentation rules to optimize what a search engine sees when it indexes pages, according to Endeca.
