Liberty Media, the owner of online retailers Provide Commerce and QVC, has entered into an agreement to acquire BuySeasons Inc., operator of BuyCostumes.com, with plans to leverage its expertise in interactive TV and web-based retailing, it said today.

"BuySeasons Inc., with their strong financial position and exemplary commitment to customer service, has emerged as the industry leader in online-only costume sales and has also recently launched a fast-growing party supply business. We look forward to generating growth through BuySeasons and Liberty`s other interactive companies such as QVC," said Michael Zeisser, senior vice president of Liberty Media. "As with Provide Commerce, operator of ProFlowers, Secret Spoon, and Uptown Prime, which we acquired in February, we believe in the power of video to drive television and web-based retailing businesses.” BuyCostumes is No. 204 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

BuyCostumes.com`s new corporate siblings QVC and Provide Commerce are ranked 14 and 56, respectively, in the Top 500 Guide. With the three properties under its roof, Liberty Media would rank as the 10th largest online retailer with $1.4 billion in online retail sale, just ahead of Newegg.com, according to the current edition of the Top 500 Guide.

Liberty Media also owns a 20% stake in IAC/InteractiveCorp., No. 23 in the Top 500 Guide, and a 22% stake in online travel site Expedia.com, a Liberty spokesman says.
