Former Best Buy exec joins PetSmart as CMO

Mary Miller, a former vice president at Best Buy, today joins PetSmart Inc. as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. She will oversee the company’s overall marketing efforts, including Internet marketing.

Mary Miller, former vice president of strategic marketing services for Best Buy, today joins PetSmart Inc. as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. She will provide strategic, hands-on direction to the company’s overall marketing, including Internet marketing, brand stewardship and loyalty marketing. She also previously served as business team leader and director of Pillsbury Co.’s refrigerated baked goods product line.

In addition, Erica Thompson, formerly vice president of marketing at Tweeter Home Entertainment, is joining PetSmart July 31 as vice president of customer relationship marketing, reporting directly to Miller. Thompson also previously held the position of vice president of customer relationship marketing for New York & Co. (formerly Lerner Stores) and Home Shopping Network.

“Mary and Erica bring to us depth of knowledge and experience in customer loyalty and brand marketing, and a fresh perspective to our overall marketing effort,” said Phil Francis, chairman and CEO, PetSmart.

PetSmart is No. 156 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.
