Customized products pure-play Zazzle.com Inc. has appointed Tuoc Luong chief technology officer and vice president of engineering.

The company needs top engineering expertise as it seeks to develop a new generation of technologies and products, says Robert Beaver, chairman and CEO. Zazzle.com is No. 269 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites.

Luong most recently served as executive vice president and CTO at IAC Search & Media, formerly Ask Jeeves Inc. IAC includes Ask.com, Bloglines, Evite and other web sites. At Ask.com Luong aggregated and led its disparate technology teams under one roof, managing everything from the core search product, end-to-end development, production, and data center and network operations.

Prior to IAC, Luong was vice president of engineering at Octopus Software, which was acquired by Ask.com in 2001.

Zazzle.com rang up sales of $20 million in 2005, a 20% increase over 2004’s $16.7 million, according to Internet Retailer estimates.
