Pure-play Your Electronic Warehouse has debuted the Monster Custom Cable Calculator to help customers purchase precisely what they need.

The new online tool enables customers to custom order almost any cable from Monster Cable, a brand name electronics manufacturer. It also enables customers to select the types of end pieces they need on cables. The calculator was created in house using the asynchronous JavaScript and XML technology method, otherwise known as AJAX.

“Customers typically bought either standard stock length cables or custom ordered cables from a local store selling Monster products,” says Justin R. Meats, I.T. director at Your Electronic Warehouse. “So we worked closely with Monster Cable to develop this tool using a formula provided by Monster. The only factor customers need enter into the calculator is length.”

Your Electronic Warehouse, No. 481 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, determined there was a niche for a feature like the calculator that would be beneficial to customers. “It gives us more flexibility in serving our customers,” Meats says. “It also gives us an unlimited number of SKUs so customers can purchase exactly the length and type of cable they need.”

Your Electronic Warehouse hit sales of $4.9 million in 2005, up 19.5% from 2004’s $4.1 million. It operates 4ElectronicWarehouse.com, DiscountGolfWorld.com, InternetPartners.com and 4DiscountTravel.com.
