MovieLink to introduce Bollywood on-demand movies to the U.S.

Movies produced by Bollywood, the India-based film industry, will be offered in the U.S. next month through a video-on-demand download service from MovieLink and Bollywood distributor EROS International, MovieLink and EROS said today.

 

Movies produced by Bollywood, the India-based film industry, will be offered in the U.S. next month through a video-on-demand download service from MovieLink LLC and Bollywood distributor EROS International, MovieLink and EROS said today.

The deal marks the first time that titles from Bollywood, which is recognized as the world’s largest producer of movies, will be available via digital distribution over the Internet to the U.S. market, said MovieLink CEO Jim Ramo. The Bollywood films will be available through for either rent or purchase at MovieLink.com.

"The EROS and Movielink collaboration will enable them to deliver hundreds of premium Bollywood movies over broadband to more than 2 million South Asian consumers in the U.S. as well as an increasing mainstream audience," said Roger Vakharia, a member of the EROS board.

EROS maintains a Bollywood library of more than 1,000 titles, including “Paheli,” India’s official entrant to the 2006 Academy Awards.
