Q1 online retail sales up 25% over year ago, Commerce Department reports

Online retail sales in the first quarter $24.2 billion, up 25.4% over Q1 in 2005, the Census Bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce reports. Q1’s online sales accounted for 2.7% of all retail sales as measured by the Commerce Department.

Online retail sales in the first quarter $24.2 billion, up 25.4% over Q1 in 2005, the Census Bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce reports. The numbers have been adjusted for seasonal variation and treading day differences. Q1’s online sales accounted for 2.7% of all retail sales as measured by the Commerce Department.

On a not-adjusted basis, online sales in the first quarter reached $25.4 billion, up 25.6% from a year earlier.

The Commerce Department reports that total retail sales for the first quarter 2006 reached $976.1 billion, on an adjusted basis, up 8.1% from a year earlier.
