Gymboree Adopts International Enterprise Shipping Solution Kewill Flagship Export
MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--May 18, 2006--Kewill (LSE:KWL), the leader in enterprise shipping management software and services, today announced that the Gymboree Corporation (NASDAQ:GYMB), an international family of specialty retail brands that provide unique, high-quality products, will advance its use Kewill shipping management solutions with the purchase of Kewill Flagship Export. A Kewill customer for seven years, Gymboree had been using Kewill`s solution, K-ship, Kewill`s original entry into the enterprise shipping market. To accommodate the company`s increased international business and need for automated denied party screening, and a desire to expand the complexity of its carrier selection business rules, Gymboree selected Kewill`s advanced enterprise shipping solution for both domestic and international shipping management, Kewill Flagship.
"After looking at a number of other systems that could aid us in identifying denied parties for our international customs compliance, Kewill clearly offered the most robust solution, cost-competitive solution," said Dan Allison, vice president of logistics for Gymboree. "Plus, we have a long, trusted relationship with Kewill. It made sense for us to continue working with their friendly, familiar staff."
Kewill Flagship Export combines a multi-carrier shipping management module that supports complex business rules, high volumes of shipments and multiple locations together denied party screening. The Flagship solution will integrate with Gymboree`s print-apply labeling system as well as its Oracle-based warehouse management system, Retek Distribution Management.
Using Kewill Flagship Export, Gymboree can now develop its own business rules to determine which carrier is selected for every shipment. For example, rules could be applied for purchases greater than $200 to use carrier "X," certain zip codes to use carrier "Y," or freight paid by the customer vs. Gymboree to use one carrier or another. Gymboree`s online customer orders come through the company`s Blue Martini shopping-cart front-end, pass through Retek Distribution Management to Kewill Flagship that then determines carriers based on coded rules.
The peak volume of Gymboree`s shipping operations can be up to 21,000 shipments per day during sales events. And the company`s international business continues to grow. Today international shipments account for 10 percent of Gymboree`s overall shipments, spanning 12 countries and the company anticipates serving 20 countries by year end.
"Supporting businesses with high-volume, global, multi-carrier shipping demands is what we do best," said Michael P. Dolan, COO of Kewill. "Kewill Flagship Export was designed to fully integrate the automation of a variety of customs compliance needs within large-scale global parcel shipping operations, including the denied-party screening module selected by Gymboree. We`re pleased to support Gymboree`s expanding direct-to-consumer business with Kewill Flagship."
