Spicers rolls out e-catalogue search-and-buy tool to its retail network

Spicers, a U.K. wholesaler of office suppliers, is rolling out to its network of 4,000 retailers a tool from ActivePoint that lets customers search for and purchase products through an online catalogue, Spicers said.

Spicers, a U.K. wholesaler of office suppliers, is rolling out to its network of 4,000 retailers a tool that lets customers search for and purchase products through an online catalogue, Spicers said.

The FLiCKI search tool from ActivePoint Inc. enables shoppers to find products through the online version of Spicers’ 960-page Big Book office supplies catalogue, said David Grassby, director of marketing for Spicers. The FLiCKI product integrates with Spicers’ OSCARnet online ordering feature, letting shoppers search and buy through the same process, he said.

"With FLiCKI, our full 17,000 product line Big Book office products catalogue is easily viewed online, alongside OSCARnet, our ordering tool," Grassby said. "This innovation delivers online the experience of flicking and browsing the BIG Book catalogue, but with the business advantage and convenience of online sales."

"It`s exciting to see such a large catalogue going online, even though for now, I don`t believe it spells the end of conventional paper catalogues,” Grassby added. “Rather, it is a key sales channel for Spicers` dealers to market their full product range to the consumer.”
