With a new site launched last fall at NationBlinds.com, multi-site e-retailer The Merrick Group is on course to double its sales this year to about $18 million or more, president Philip Krim tells InternetRetailer.com.

Merrick Group, No. 378 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, operates four retail sites that sell different types of bedding products. Its SleepBetterStore.com, for instance, sells air-based sleep systems and its AngelBeds.com specializes in “memory foam” mattresses.

The company has recently started to branch out into additional niche markets. Last fall, it launched NationBlinds.com, which is designed to help consumers measure and custom-fitted window treatments, and it recently acquired TonysTickets.com, which sells tickets to sporting, musical and other entertainment events.

"We`re always looking for other market opportunities," Krim says, adding that Merrick Group has the infrastructure to support additional web sites. "Our business model is adept at acquiring and operating a variety of web properties."
