Interwoven Inc., provider of web content management technology, has appointed veteran board member Frank Fanzilli as chairman and named senior vice president of worldwide sales Max Carnecchia as interim president.

Interwoven made the two appointments to prepare for the retirement of president and CEO Martin Brauns, the company said. “Both Frank and Max have the thought leadership and expertise to drive the development and continued worldwide adoption of Interwoven’s ECM solutions,” said Brauns, who retired from the chairman position on January 25 and plans to leave the company on March 31.

Fanzilli has served since 2002 on the Interwoven board and since last year as the board’s lead independent director. Prior to Interwoven, he held several executive positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and was in technical sales at IBM. He has also served on the boards of PeopleSoft and other organizations.

Carnecchia, who joined Interwoven in 2001, has been responsible for sales in the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to Interwoven, he was vice president of global sales for e-business services company Xoriant and held other sales positions at companies including IBM Corp. and Intel Corp.
