Nine of top 10 hardware sites experience double-digit growth in January

Visits to nine of the top 10 online hardware manufacturer sites increased by double digits in January, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Intel led the group, with visits increasing 58% to 1.9 million from 1.2 million in January 2005.

Linksys experienced the second largest increase, with visits rising 55% to 1.7 million from 1.1 million a year earlier; followed by Logitech, up 42% to 1.7 million from 1.2 million; Sun Microsystems, up 30% to 3.5 million from 2.7 million; Apple, up 23% to 35 million from 28.5 million; Palm, up 19% to 1.9 million from 1.6 million; Hewlett Packard, up 16% to 14 million from 12.1 million; IBM, up 15% to 3 million from 2.6 million; Dell, up 10% to 18.4 million from 16.8 million; and Gateway, up 4% to 2.4 million from 2.3 million.

Apple recorded the most traffic in January, followed by Dell, Hewlett Packard, Sun Microsystems, IBM, Gateway, Palm, Intel, Logitech, and Linksys.

In the top 10 ranked by time per visit, TiVo led with 13 minutes, 17 seconds; followed by Palm, 13 minutes, 16 seconds; Nintendo, 12 minutes, 58 seconds; XBOX, 10 minutes, 13 seconds; Playstation, 9 minutes, 27 seconds; Toshiba America Information Systems, 6 minutes, 9 seconds; Toshiba, 5 minutes, 16 seconds; Motorola, 5 minutes, 13 seconds; Sun Microsystems, 4 minutes, 11 seconds; and Mylinks.com, 2 minutes, 24 seconds.

Also in January, the books, movies and music segment had the most online ad impressions in the retail goods and service industry, according to Nielsen/NetRatings AdRelevance report. The leading segments in the report and their number of impressions in millions are:
