E-commerce sales for Systemax jump 31% in Q2

Web sales for Systemax, the parent company of online computer retailer TigerDirect, grew 31% in Q2 while total sales rose almost 16%.

Web sales at Systemax Inc., the parent company of online computer retailer TigerDirect Inc., jumped nearly 31% in the second quarter to $150.6 million from $115.5 million in the same quarter for 2004 while total sales increased almost 16% to $502 million from $433.3 million from Q2 2004.

In the second quarter, the web accounted for 30% of total sales compared to 27% of total sales in Q2 2004. “An increase in e-commerce sales in both our computer and industrial products business was the primary source of the sales increase in the second quarter,” says Systemax CEO Richard Leeds.

Through its various channels, including TigerDirect.com, No. 32 in the Internet Retailer Top 400 Guide to Retail Web Sites, Systemax sells more than 40,000 computer and computer accessories products to a base of 2 million customers.
