Online spending on Visa rose 33% year-over-year for week ending Dec. 11

E-commerce spending in the U.S. on Visa branded cards rose 33.2% year-over-year to $3.6 billion for the week ending Dec. 11, Visa said.

E-commerce spending in the U.S. on Visa branded cards rose 33.2% year-over-year to $3.6 billion for the week ending Dec. 11, according to Visa U.S.A.’s Holiday SpendTrak report. Visa processed 44 million online transactions for the week, up 30.5% for the same period in 2004. The average ticket was $82.23.

Online purchases accounted for 12% of the $30.8 billion in spending on all Visa cards for the week and about 9% of total transactions of 517.3 million. The average ticket for all spending on Visa cards was $59.52.
