Learning Search™ and Site Champion™ Deliver More Relevant Results to Customers and Gain More Prominent Placement on Natural Search Engines for Yahoo! Merchant
CUPERTINO, CA – December 14, 2005 – With the holiday online shopping season underway, SLI Systems, Inc., a provider of on-demand search services for Internet and e-commerce sites, today announced that BedBathStore.com has deployed the company’s Learning Search™ and Site Champion™ hosted offerings. One of several Yahoo! Merchant customers with which SLI Systems is working, BedBathStore.com has seen increases in sales and customer conversion rates of nearly five percent since implementing SLI’s search solutions just three months ago.
BedBathStore, which started its operations in 1970, sells bedding, bath accessories, furniture and housewares. In 2000, the company took its operations online and has since grown to one of the most successful e-commerce sites, due largely to its commitment to customer satisfaction, according to COO Michael Reichman.
As part of its continuing focus on customer service, BedBathStore decided earlier this year to offer advanced online search capabilities that would help site visitors find what they’re looking for more quickly and easily. Additionally, the retail site wanted a solution to perform search engine optimization without spending vast amounts of time and money. The company turned to SLI Systems for its Learning Search site search and Site Champion search engine optimization offerings, which “learn” from visitor behavior over time to improve the relevancy and effectiveness of results.
“SLI Systems has enhanced our search functionality in more ways than we imagined,” said Reichman. “As we hoped, we’re now giving customers deeper search capabilities and a better shopping experience. The product also helps me make more accurate buying decisions as I’m able to capture useful data about our customers’ purchasing behavior. It’s a totally hands-off solution for me, but gives me powerful information instantaneously. With higher sales and conversion rates, we’re well positioned to capitalize on the record numbers of people doing their holiday shopping online this year.”
About Learning Search and Site Champion
Learning Search and Site Champion are built on SLI Systems’ patent-pending advanced search behavior analytics engine. Learning Search is a hosted site search solution that continually tracks visitors’ aggregate search terms and the corresponding items clicked on, and uses that data to deliver results based on popularity. For example, if someone searches on “bedspread,” Learning Search automatically ranks the items so that those with historically higher click-rates are listed at the top. Learning Search also shows how many assets exist and in what categories, and gives visitors the option to sort the results by ascending or descending prices.
Site Champion is an automated search engine optimization service that integrates with Learning Search, tracking visitors’ search terms and using them to automatically create related search links for each page of a retailer’s site. When visitors click on these ‘related search’ links they are presented with site search results for that term, directing them to additional relevant content and commerce opportunities – making it easier for a site’s visitors to find what they want, and helping retailers generate more sales. These related search links also drive more natural search traffic to the retailer’s site.
“Increasingly, retailers are discovering how search engine marketing can significantly boost their business and steer customers away from their competitors,” said Dr. Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems. “Our solutions are designed to do just that – in a fast, simple and cost-effective manner. We work hand-in-hand with BedBathStore and our other customers every step of the way to ensure that our solutions bring them a good return on investment.”
