Traffic surges at leading computer hardware manufacturer sites

Visits to six of the top 10 hardware manufacturer sites increased by double-digits in October, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Epson led the group, with visits increasing 70% to 1.7 million from 1 million a year earlier.

Visits to six of the top 10 computer hardware manufacturer sites increased by double-digits in October, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. Epson led the group, with visits increasing 70% to 1.7 million from 1 million a year earlier.

Intel experienced the second largest increase, with site visits rising 50% to 1.8 million from 1.2 million a year earlier, followed by IBM, up 42% to 3.2 million from 2.26 million; Apple, up 40% to 27.5 million from 19.7 million; Hewlett Packard, up 31% to 14.5 million from 11.1 million; and Dell, up 27% to 16.7 million from 13.2 million.

Visits to Palm increased 3% to 1.53 million from1.48 million during the quarter while visits to Sun Mircrosystems dropped 13% to 2.6 million from 3 million.

Apple recorded the most traffic during October, followed by Dell, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Gateway (2 million visits), Intel, Epson, Palm and XM Satellite Radio (1.5 million visits).

In the top 10 hardware manufacturer sites ranked by time per visits, Apple led with 51 minutes, 16 seconds, followed by Dell, 17 minutes, 20 seconds; XM Satellite Radio, 17 minutes, 11 seconds; IBM, 16 minutes, 44 seconds; ATI, 13 minutes, 7 seconds; Palm, 12 minutes, 19 seconds; Gateway, 12 minutes, 17 seconds; Cisco Systems, 12 minutes, 9 seconds; Hewlett Packard, 12 minutes, 8 seconds; and Motorola, 12 minutes, 6 seconds.

Also in October, the books, movies and music segment had the most online ad impressions in the retail goods and service industry, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance report. The leading segments in the report and their number of impressions (in millions) are:
