Search sponsored links account for 34% of online ad impressions

Search sponsored links, led by eBay, Shopping.com and InterActiveCorp, accounted for 34% of online advertising impressions for the week ending Aug. 21, according to Nielsen/NetRatings’ AdRelevance Sponsored Search Link service.

Search sponsored links, led by eBay, Shopping.com and InterActiveCorp, accounted for 34%, or nearly 13 billion, of online advertising impressions for the week ending Aug. 21, according to Nielsen/NetRatings’ AdRelevance Sponsored Search Link service.

EBay led the group with sponsored link placements for more than 15,000 companies. EBay placed nearly 400 million impressions, representing 3% of total placements. Shopping.com ranked second with 138 million impressions, or 1% or total impressions, followed by InterActiveCorp (98 million), MyCashNow.com (94 million) and Yahoo (91 million).

Retail goods and services and web media tied as the leading industries, with placements representing 22% and 21% of total impressions, respectively.
