Q2 sales at Barnes & Noble.com increase 14%

Barnes & Noble today reported that online sales increased 14% year-over-year to $96.3 million during the second quarter. Online sales represented 8.2% of total sales for the quarter.

Barnes & Noble today reported that online sales increased 14% year-over-year to $96.3 million during the second quarter. Online sales represented 8.2% of total sales for the quarter.

Total Q2 sales were $1.171 billion, up 6% from $1.1 billion a year earlier. Sales at Barnes & Noble stores increased 7% year-over-year to $1.029 billion. Net earnings for the quarter were $13.5 million, up 55.2% from $8.7 million in the year-earlier period.

As of July 30, the company operated 673 Barnes & Noble stores and 146 B. Dalton stores. During the second quarter, five Barnes & Noble stores were opened and three were closed. B. Dalton closed four stores.
