SANTA CLARA, Calif.--Aug. 9, 2005--Topio, Inc. (www.topio.com), the leading provider of enterprise software for data replication and recovery, today announced that RedEnvelope Inc. (www.redenvelope.com), the online retailer of upscale gifts for every occasion, has selected Topio`s Data Protection Suite(TM) (TDPS) to help it protect critical customer data.

San Francisco-based RedEnvelope upgraded its data center last year as part of a major part of its data protection strategy. The company, whose production data center is in a co-located facility in San Francisco, set up a mirrored disaster recovery site more than 2,000 miles away.

"Our customers depend on us to safeguard their data and it`s critical that we have immediate access to the information at all times," said Ed Schmults, RedEnvelope`s chief operating officer. "We needed to ensure that, in the event of an emergency, all of our data could be restored quickly. TDPS is simple to operate and has consistently helped us replicate our data across multiple points," he said.

Topio provides companies like RedEnvelope with data protection that facilitates a rapid, reliable and comprehensive recovery of mission-critical data within minutes meeting any distance requirements, and supporting real-time data currency for optimized recovery.

About Topio Data Protection Suite

With support for heterogeneous servers and storage and multiple storage architectures (DAS, SAN), the Topio Data Protection Suite (TDPS) is a single solution that meets any distance requirements, supports real time data currency for optimized recovery and resolves "backup window" and "data loss" issues with current data protection products. A software-based solution with an aggressively competitive total cost of ownership, TDPS is a flexible solution that leverages and preserves existing investment while not limiting future IT infrastructure decisions, making it an excellent solution around which to build an enterprise data protection strategy.
