E-mail security firm Tumbleweed names Craig Brennan as president and CEO

Tumbleweed Communications, a provider of e-mail security, customer identity validation and other services to companies including Best Buy Co. Inc. and Godiva Chocolatier, has named Craig D. Brennan as president, CEO and chairman.

Tumbleweed Communications Corp., a provider of e-mail security, customer identity validation and other services to companies including Best Buy Co. Inc. and Godiva Chocolatier, has named Craig D. Brennan as president, CEO and chairman.

Brennan succeeds Jeffrey C. Smith, who co-founded Tumbleweed and has served as CEO since 1993. Smith will continue to serve on the Tumbleweed board of directors.

Brennan has served in the enterprise software industry for two decades, most recently as CEO of enterprise software provider Brio Software Inc. Prior to Brio, Brennan served as senior vice president of the Customer Relationship Management Group at Oracle Corp., and as leader of the Siebel-CRM practice at Deloitte Consulting.

“We believe our market is entering a high-growth phase, so in our search we were looking for a leader with demonstrated success in building competitive, growth-oriented business organizations,” said Deborah Rieman, a member of the Tumbleweed board.

Other Tumbleweed clients include Sears, Roebuck and Co., Rite Aid Corp., Ace Hardware Corp. and organizations in financial services, health care and government.
