Trek Bicycle, a retailer of bicycles and biking accessories, has launched an online store to coincide with Lance Armstrong’s final appearance in this month’s Tour de France.
Capitalizing on the start of the Tour de France, Trek Bicycle, a retailer of bicycles and biking accessories, has launched an online store to coincide with Lance Armstrong’s final appearance in this month’s Tour de France. The online store went live at the Trek site-www.TrekBikes.com-during the last week of June.
The online store is being supported by the MarketLive E-Commerce Platform.
Because Trek Bicycle’s web site always experiences significant spike in traffic during the Tour de France, the retailer wanted to take advantage of the increase to launch the store, says a MarketLive spokeswoman.
TrekBikes.com will be providing extensive editorial coverage of the Tour de France reported by well-known experts in the field. The site is selling the same athletic wear, bike shoes and other accessories being used by Armstrong, in addition to travel packages. “They’re selling the biking experience,” the spokeswoman says.
Trek Bicycle will be selling a limited number of biking accessories and Tour de France clothing and collectibles online. It uses the site to drive people to its local retail shops, for example, by posting a schedule of when demo bike equipment will be in stores.
