Increased visits at 5 of the top 10 computer and consumer electronics sites

Five of the top 10 multi-category computers and consumer electronics sites reported double-digit growth in site visits in May while one site had a double-digit drop, according to Nielsen/Net Ratings.

TigerDirect.com led the group, with a 61% jump in traffic to 2.9 million from 1.8 million in May 2004. Circuitcity.com ranked second, with visits rising 45% to 6.4 million from 4.4 million, followed by BestBuy.com, up 32% to 10.4 million from 7.9 million; CompUSA.com, up 26% to 2.9 million from 2.3 million; Sony, up 24% to 3.1 million from 2.5 million; OSTG, up 11% to 3.1 million from 2.8 million; and Radio Shack, up 5% to 2 million from 1.9 million.

Reporting declines in visits were Sony Electronics, down 20% to 3.2 million from 4 million and eBay Electronics, down 3% to 8.4 million from 8.7 million.

BestBuy.com reported the largest number of visits in May, followed by eBay Electronics, Circuitcity.com, eBay Computers (5.2 million), Sony Electronics, OSTG, Sony, CompUSA, TigerDirect.com and Radio Shack.

Among the top 10 multi-category computers and computer electronics ranked by time per visit, CDW led with 20 minutes, 50 seconds; followed by eBay Electronics, 16 minutes, 45 seconds; eBay Computers, 13 minutes, 59 seconds; CompUSA.com, 12 minutes, 18 seconds; OSTG, 12 minutes, 6 seconds; TigerDirect.com, 11 minutes, 28 seconds; Sony Electronics, 9 minutes, 52 seconds; BestBuy.com, 9 minutes, 45 seconds; Canon, 9 minutes, 16 seconds; and eAcceleration, 9 minutes, 1 second.

Also in May, NetFlix Inc. had the most online ad impressions among the top 10 retail goods and services advertisers, according to Nielsen’s AdRelevance Report. The leading advertisers and their number of impressions (in millions):
