A.D. “Bud” Albers, former chief technology officer of Drugstore.com, has taken the CTO position at MusicNet, a provider of digital music services to online retailers.

“Bud brings a wealth of technology management experience to MusicNet that should significantly enhance our operations as we continue to grow the company and expand the depth of our digital music services and breadth of distribution partners,” said Alan McGlade, CEO of MusicNet.

Albers will oversee MusicNet’s full range of technical operations, including program management, development, test and network operations. Based at the company’s headquarters in Seattle, he’ll report to McGlade.

Albers joins MusicNet directly from Drugstore.com, where he was responsible for all aspects of technology, including design, development and operations. Prior to Drugstore, he served as CTO of Getty Images, led Internet commerce efforts at Ameritech, and headed global technology strategies for Monsanto. He also served in senior management at NxTrend Technologies.
