Internet software allows UWG members to improve store operations
PLANO, Texas and Commerce, Calif. – Jan. 31, 2005 - StoreNext Retail Technologies LLC of Plano, Texas and Unified Western Grocers, Inc. (UWG) of Commerce, Calif. have signed an agreement to market and promote the StoreNext Connected Services™ Internet-based software to the UWG membership. UWG serves about 2,500 independent grocers in the western United States.
StoreNext’s Connected Services is a full suite of hosted software that gives independent grocers and regional chains easy, online, and affordable access to robust data center applications.
“This partnership with StoreNext gives us an organized approach towards elevating the standard of technology used across our membership,” said Gary Herman, UWG’s CIO/Vice President. “We believe that the StoreNext Connected Services offering will provide significant benefits for our member stores while contributing to UWG’s retail technology vision.”
The program consists of marketing strategies to promote the Connected Services product offering to the UWG membership, as well as coordinating IT system integration between UWG systems and applications and StoreNext-hosted products.
“The ability to partner with UWG represents an important step for us as we continue to support the needs of independent grocers and regional chains,” said Ray Carlin, president and chief executive officer of StoreNext. “The program allows us to more effectively serve a broad base of retailers, and gives them the leading-edge applications they need to better differentiate themselves in the marketplace. We expect UWG retailers to greatly benefit from these Connected Services offerings.”
The agreement offers Connected Store Analysis and Reporting, Connected Item Hosting and Connected ShrinkTrax to UWG member stores. The marketing program focuses upon UWG members with ISS45 V7, ISS45 V8, ScanMaster and/or RBO point-of-sale products. These grocers will have access to technology traditionally available only to larger chains, but now without requiring start-up investments for additional application software and hardware/software platforms. UWG’s independent retailers access the services they need with only a subscription fee to use these software systems.
