Shopping comparison site BizRate.com Inc. has changed its name to Shopzilla Inc. And the change reflects more than just a new name, the company says; it also reflects a beefed-up shopping comparison product.

Shopzilla is providing information on 25 million products from 45,000 merchants and implementing a series of new features that let consumers sort results by several attributes. “We’ve built a search engine that allows us to have every product from every merchant,” says Chuck Davis, president and CEO of Shopzilla. “If an item doesn’t show up in search results, it doesn’t matter if the merchant offers free shipping or not, the customer won’t know about it and so the customer won’t be able to buy it.”

Shopzilla has developed a proprietary algorithm it calls ShopRank that weighs multiple factors, including contextual relevance, price, availability, store ratings, and popularity.

The new Shopzilla is also offering: • SmartChoice, which highlights and makes it easy to find the lowest price from a highly rated BizRate.com certified merchant who has the product in-stock • FlexiBrowse, which allows shoppers to adjust attributes when they browse for products to make it easier to find exactly what they`re looking for • Shopzilla List, which enables shoppers to create and save a personalized list of products and merchant links, which the company says makes it easier for them to compare products from different merchants • Top Picks, which highlights the most popular, top-rated, and best-priced products. • Professional reviews of the top selling products • More than 1 million fresh customer reviews and ratings each month • Larger images, close-up views, and 360 degree views of popular products to give consumers a better view of what they are buying • Product demos and videos of popular electronic products.
