Apple leads in visitors to computer makers’ web sites

Apple led in visitors to computer manufacturers’ web sites the week ending Oct. 17, Nielsen/NetRatings reports, hosting 4.8 million unique visitors.

Apple Inc. led in visitors to computer manufacturers’ web sites the week ending Oct. 17, Nielsen/NetRatings reports, hosting 4.8 million unique visitors. Dell was No. 2, with 2.4 million; Hewlett-Packard was third with 1.8 million; Sun Microsystems fourth with 382,000, and Gateway fifth with 305,000.

Not surprisingly, male visitors outnumbered female by 57%-43%. Computer hardware visitors also tend to be older, with visitors age 45 and older constituting 44.4% of all visitors. 60% of all visitors had household incomes under $75,000.

 

The Top 10 Retail Goods & Services Industry segments advertising online the week ending Oct. 17, according to Nielsen/NetRatings, and the number of ad impression (in millions) were:
