PayPal says it experienced significant improvement in its operations Wednesday, following a major disruption that was caused by a code upgrade last Friday.

“Currently the site has improved significantly, allowing most users to transact without incident,” says a PayPal spokeswoman. “We’re monitoring the situation closely and will update the community as soon as we have new information.”

PayPal said the site performed well during peak traffic levels Tuesday evening. “Most members are now able to log in to the PayPal site to access account information, use shipping functions, use PayPal debit cards, and pay for items online with no difficulty,” said a PayPal statement.
