Boscov’s cuts cost of managing delivery with web-enabled visibility tool

Boscov’s, a chain of 40 full-line stores that sell everything from apparel to lawn mowers, has found a way to cut from several hours to minutes the time it takes to communicate with its top suppliers to deal with supply chain disruptions.

Boscov’s Department Store LLC, a chain of 40 full-line stores that sell everything from apparel to lawn mowers, has found a way to cut from several hours to minutes the time it takes to communicate with its top suppliers to address supply chain disruptions. “Our average time is now about two minutes,” CIO Harry Roberts tells InternetRetailer.com.

Boscov’s recently finished a pilot project to test the QRS Reveal supply chain visibility tool from QRS Corp. The tool, hosted by QRS, provides for automated e-mail alerts to retail managers based on business rules set during the Reveal system’s implementation.

Because the Reveal system also provides for reports of supplier performance, Boscov’s may begin to rank suppliers by their ability to meet supply chain schedules.
