Food Lion Supermarkets has joined Giant Eagle, Kroger and other grocers in offering online coupons through CoolSavings’ Grocery Solutions Network, which now includes nearly 4,000 stores, CoolSavings said today.

Food Lion, a unit of Delhaize America, the U.S. division of Brussels-based Delhaize Group, operates more than 1,200 stores in 11 eastern states, offering more than 28,000 products. The web-based coupons, which Food Lion will make available on FoodLion.com, will extend the grocer’s ability to reach out to customers with additional offers, says Bill Thomas, director of marketing.

"Part of our strategic plan is to find better ways to serve customers by giving them the right mix of merchandise and offers," he says. "We pride ourselves on being responsive to customer lifestyle changes, and we know that the Internet is growing in importance in their lives." Consumers can print out personalized CoolSavings grocery coupons from their home computers for redemption at local stores.

Other retailers participating in the Grocery Solutions Network are Meijer and Piggly Wiggly.
